Circumcision Fee Schedule (Ages 6+ & Adults)
Our medical circumcision procedures are performed in-clinic under local anesthetic using the PlastiBell method (ages 6–14) or the modern ZSR Stapler technique (ages 14+):
Important Points Regarding Circumcision Fees:
Medicare Rebates: Apply directly when circumcision is medically indicated (e.g., pathological phimosis, recurrent balanitis, BXO, or paraphimosis).
Elective & Cultural Procedures: Circumcisions performed strictly for cultural, religious, or personal elective reasons are not covered by Medicare. The full private fee applies.
The Gap Amount: The out-of-pocket gap is simply the difference between the total professional procedural fee and the Medicare rebate.
Private Health Insurance Coverage
In-Clinic Procedures: Procedures performed in our clinic under local anesthetic avoid expensive private hospital stays and theatre fees. Most private health funds do not cover minor in-clinic procedures under hospital cover, though extras or outpatient benefits may vary depending on your provider.
Hospital Settings: Private health insurance may contribute toward hospital or theatre costs if a procedure is performed in a private hospital or licensed day procedure centre (such as Wyndham Clinic Private Hospital for optional sedation). We recommend contacting your health insurer prior to booking to confirm your specific coverage details.
All fees are confirmed clearly during your initial clinical consultation before any procedure is scheduled.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Are there any hidden costs after the procedure?
A: No. All procedural fees, local anesthetics, sterile equipment, and standard follow-up support are fully disclosed prior to booking.
Q: Do I need a referral from my regular GP to book an appointment?
A: No, a referral is not required. Dr Rahul Tipnis is a General Practitioner (FRACGP) specialising in minor surgical procedures. You can book directly with our clinic. Eligible Medicare rebates apply directly to your consultation and procedure without needing a referral from another doctor.
